BCPS Scores Continue to Rise and Outperform the State in the Majority of Tested Areas

The Florida Department of Education has released results for the Spring 2025 statewide assessments, which includes the Florida Assessment for Student Thinking (FAST) in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics, Science scores for grades 5 and 8, and cumulative End-of-Course (EOC) exam results for Biology, Civics, U.S. History, Algebra and Geometry.

The results show Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) students outperformed the state in all grades for ELA, grades 3 through 7 in Mathematics, Grade 5 for Science, and in all EOC exam subjects. Additionally, BCPS outperformed Florida’s four other largest school districts (Hillsborough, Miami-Dade, Orange and Palm Beach counties) in most of the tested areas.

“We’re incredibly proud of these results—they show that the strategies we’ve put in place over the past two years are truly making a difference for our students,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn. “This progress is thanks to the hard work of our amazing teachers, support staff, school leaders and administrators, along with our School Board and entire community. Together, we’re making sure our students receive the world-class education they deserve.”

The FAST for ELA and mathematics is administered three times a year as part of the state’s progress monitoring assessments. The Spring assessment (PM3) is the final FAST assessment of the school year. Since 2022/23, cumulative year-end results for BCPS have shown impressive increases in student performance across all tested subjects.

*End of Course (EOC) exam results represent all administrations during the school years listed.
