Application Steps
The College Academy @ BC utilizes an online application process. All COMMUNICATION AND FORMS ARE PROCESSED ONLINE. Applicants who do not have a computer or internet access may call the CA Registrar at 754-321-6900 for assistance.
- Applicants must check their application status online for updates throughout the admissions process. It is the responsibility of the applicant to meet all deadlines.
- After the first waitlist update, the online process to check application status will no longer be utilized. All further updates will be done by phone and/or email.
Step 1: Apply to Broward College
- Complete a Broward College application online. A Broward College Student ID number and Email are required to submit the College Academy application. Click here for instructions. Students who already have a BC ID number DO NOT need to reapply.
Step 2: College Admissions Testing
Applicants will be required to upload their test scores to their application prior to submitting. You are encouraged to being testing as soon as possible:
- Take the ACCUPLACER Next Generation (ACNG) test through the Broward College testing center. (Applicants will need their BC ID)
- Upload ACCUPLACER Next Generation (ACNG), SAT or ACT scores that meet admissions requirements.
- Applicants can only test two times, and both attempts can be uploaded to your CA application.
Step 3: Submit your College Academy Application
APPLYING TO BROWARD COLLEGE DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN APPLICATION TO THE COLLEGE ACADEMY AT BROWARD COLLEGE.
- After obtaining a BC Student ID and Email and earning eligible ACCUPLACER, SAT, OR ACT scores, applicants must now complete their College Academy application.
- A student and their parent/guardian complete the CA online application together. Both parties are required to electronically sign the application for admission.
- Students who do not currently attend a Broward County Public School (private, charter, home school, etc.) must upload their transcripts to the application before submitting. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
- The College Academy application has a "SAVE & EXIT" option, which allows applicants to begin their application but save their progress if they are not yet ready to submit.
- A SAVED application does not constitute a SUBMITTED application. If an applicant neglects to return to their application and click "SUBMIT" or "UPDATE," the application will not be visible to the admission committee for review.
- A SAVED application will have a "pending" status in the applicant's application portal.
- A SUBMITTED application will have a "completed" status in the applicant's application portal,
Please check your status daily to stay current on your standing, as this is an ongoing process.
- Please ensure that you are logging into your COLLEGE ACADEMY application to check for status updates. Since you had to submit an application to Broward College to receive a BC Student ID and Email, you will receive messages/correspondence from Broward College. However, please do not confuse BROWARD COLLEGE status updates with COLLEGE ACADEMY status updates. All updates regarding your COLLEGE ACADEMY application will be posted to your COLLEGE ACADEMY application portal. Applicants are to disregard any BROWARD COLLEGE messages and status updates. Any and all messages and application updates relevant to the applicant's admission to the COLLEGE ACADEMY will come directly from the COLLEGE ACADEMY, NOT BROWARD COLLEGE.
Step 4: Admission Notification and Responses
APPLICANTS WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL ON DECISION DAY WITH THEIR FINAL ADMISSIONS STATUS AND APPLICABLE NEXT STEPS. APPLICANTS WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO VIEW THEIR STATUS IN THEIR APPLICATION PORTAL
- Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements will have their status updated to "In Qualified Applicant Pool".
- Applicants who DO NOT meet the eligibility requirements will have their status updated to "Unable to Offer a Seat".
- Qualified applicants will be admitted unless the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of available seats. If this occurs, a computerized random selection process (lottery) will be utilized.
- Qualified Applicants selected for admission will see their status updated to "Offered Admission" and must accept the admission offer within the time specified.
- Qualified applicants not selected for an offer of admission will receive a place on the waitlist. Applicants on the waitlist will be offered admission in the order assigned during the random selection process as seats become available.
Final Step: Enrollment Process
- Applicants accept admission by submitting an Enrollment form online to the College Academy @ BC.
- Admitted students must attend a mandatory registration session with the BC and CA advisors.
- During registration, students will select their Term 1 classes.
- Complete the Student Performance Contract.

Admissions Testing
As part of the admissions process for Broward College (BC) and the application process for the College Academy (CA), you must take the College's Basic Skills Assessment Test called the ACCUPLACER Next Generation (ACNG) Test. The ACCUPLACER Next Generation (ACNG) has three sections that you must pass: Reading Writing, and Math. The testing takes approximately 3 hours and can be done remotely.
The ACCUPLACER Next Generation (ACNG) is not an easy test, particularly in the math area. It is recommended that students prepare for the test. ACCUPLACER Next Generation (ACNG) Test prep resources are located below.
Applicants will be afforded two attempts to meet the testing eligibility requirements. BC charges a fee for all retest attempts. Click here for all testing fees. Refer to the Broward College testing policy for retesting guidelines and requirements.
Students who have qualifying ACCUPLACER Next Generation (ACNG)/SAT/ACT scores do not have to take the ACCUPLACER Next Generation (ACNG). As per BC Policy, test scores submitted must be no older than two years old to be used for admission.
If you need more information please contact College Academy Admissions Coordinator at (754) 321-6900.
ACCUPLACER Next Generation (ACNG) Instructions:
Applicants will be required to upload their ACCUPLACER Next Generation (ACNG), SAT, or ACT test scores to their application prior to submitting it. It is strongly encouraged that applicants test as soon as possible. If a second attempt is needed, there is a waiting period before applicants can sit for the exam again.
CA @ BC applicants must adhere to the Broward College testing policy and fees. A retesting fee applies for all retest attempts, regardless of the age of the previous scores.
Read the BC ACCUPLACER Next Generation (ACNG) instructions carefully and follow ALL the steps.
Official ID is required to test. For testing acceptable forms of identification click here.
If you experience difficulty with the test registration process, email testingservices@broward.edu (Include your BC ID# and specifics about your issue), or Call the BC DE/CA Helpline at 954-201-6447

Students with Academic Accommodations
Students with accommodation who are admitted to the College Academy (ESE and 504 students) do very well here. CA@BC serves as a bridge between the services received at traditional high schools and the accommodations they receive at the college level. Accommodations provided to students at the college level are done very differently than at traditional high schools. CA students are full-time college students and take all college courses. Accommodations in college courses are granted by Broward College Accessibility Resources Office only. To be successful at CA, it is imperative that ESE and 504 students:
